One of the most iconic images of the 20th century. Buzz Aldrin on the moon with Neil Armstrong reflected in his visor. It is often thought that these photos of the first visit lunar landings are of Neil Armstrong but due to Aldrin disappointment at not being first to step foot on the surface he refused to hold the camera. Armstrong being unfazed and ironically media shy, happily took the photos. The first landing on 20th July 1969 was watched by 500 million people worldwide, but by the last moon landings in 1972 the American public had grown disinterested and disgruntled at the costs and lack of seen benefits. It seems amazing now that just over 40 years ago the world could look up in to the sky and know two of their species where walking on another world which had been revered by mankind for thousands of years. And there was no cheese.
