This mural provides a stunning view of Times Square featuring NYCs famous yellow Taxi cabs taken by the photographer John Lawrence. The photographer has skilfully provided a unique perspective down the avenue with the cars thrown sharply into relief through the contrast of the monochrome backdrop and their vibrant, distinct yellow. NYC cabs are widely recognised as an icon of the city and indeed of the USA. The Yellow cabs are the only taxis in the city that are legally permitted to pick up passengers hailing cabs on the street and thus provide a safe means of travel for the citys many residents and visitors. The yellow cabs are generally concentred in Manhattan but do operate in other areas of the city. However they are most typically associated with the Island and have become its visual trademark.
